Is CELPIP easier than IELTS?
Neither test is objectively easier — they assess the same English skills using different formats. Candidates who prefer face-to-face communication often prefer IELTS speaking. The difficulty of the content is comparable at equivalent score levels.
Are CELPIP and IELTS scores equivalent?
IRCC publishes a conversion chart. CLB 9 in CELPIP corresponds to Band 7.0 in IELTS. CLB 10 corresponds to Band 7.5. Both use the Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLB) as the underlying standard for immigration purposes, but the raw scores (CLB 1–12 vs. Band 0–9) are reported separately.
